So I saw sonypsp's entry regarding the now-infamous avatar incident, and checked out ShortStoryKid's page. As soon as I did, I received this message.
First, I reviewed him with a thumbs down and "Intolerant, shortsighted. All I do is visit his page, and I receive hate mail."
Then, I responded by saying "Perhaps it is you who are pathetic?"
"Do you even know what it's about? I don't particularly like the avatar, but I like the cause, and if you're going to stand in the way, I don't see why you deserve the respect of anyone on StumbleUpon."
He notices the review...
And with that, I am blocked.
So I pursue alternate modes of communication. (this is where the bad decision is, but I thought I could somehow make him see reason... how soon I forget what most people are like...)

I leave the group immediately after posting. My motivation for doing so, at the time? Get this: respect. I have no idea what I was thinking.
I would tell him I had already done so before he even sent the message, but he has me blocked, remember?
If I could respond to him, I would say that there is no cause greater than freedom. And if you need proof of this, you need only look at this example of fascism. When people are denied freedom -- the freedom to think for themselves, say what they feel, be who they are, to have open and honest social discourse -- the whole of humanity suffers. |

I also agree wholeheartedly with you on the FTSOJ avatar incident.
